I recently ran across a CAT forklift with a 4G64 Mitsubishi engine that would crank, but would not start.
I started with the basic diagnostics.
Tested for spark and it had a good spark, so I went after a fuel problem.
I ran a fuel pressure test and found the pressure regulator/vaporizer putting out over 8 psi.
The recommended fuel pressure for this unit is 1.5 psi. This unit was flooding out causing the no start.
It had the Impco model J regulator. So after installing a new regulator, the unit starts and runs great.
Parts needed:
Fuel Regulator
Pipe thread sealer or thread tape
Antifreeze/Coolant
3 X 1″ Hose Clamps
